BIO

Film producer, therapist-in-training,
ocean lover, eastcoast-westcoast-eastcoaster

Sawyer Steele is an Emmy-nominated film producer, co-founder of Let it Ripple Film Studio, creative professional across multiple mediums, and Master of Social Work student training to be a therapist for transgender youth and their families. He has produced, written, edited, and voice over directed several award-winning films including four that have premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He was nominated for an Emmy in the category New Approaches to Arts + Culture for his work on the series The Future Starts Here, which includes an episode TransBoom, where he shares his experience being transgender. He founded Character Day and 50/50 Day, annual initiatives that have engaged millions around the globe through a combination of film, resources, live events, and global Q&As. Just before the pandemic, he produced Tiffany Shlain's one-woman "spoken cinema" performance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is now a graduate student in social work at the Unviersity of New England.

After nearly two decades in San Francisco and Oakland, Sawyer now lives in Portland, Maine with his partner, two kids, and two dogs. They spend as much time as possible on the water.
